Advertising Design
Project Description:
Below are 4 powerful ad designed by Ted DeCagna. The first for a transportation violations agency that educates New York and PA drivers all about DMV trucking compliance and safety. They asked for a striking visual for their trade show booth. Ted recommended using a powerful New York City visual since most of their clients are in the New York area. Ted photographed this night time exposure of lower Manhattan from a cruise ship. He later photographer a brand-new generic tractor trailer and photo composed this unique photo montage of a truck parked on the Hudson river to get everyone’s attention. The simple but creative headline makes the trade show ad communicate the service they offer. This ad won a design award of excellence from American Graphic Design and Advertising 29, and was published in the annual in 2015.
The second trade magazine ad design New Jersey was for Scientific Building Automation, a company that specializes in state-of-the-art design and installation of computerized, remote access, HVAC building systems. Ted’s ad including a very high tech, space age contemporary look that is perfect for this high tech HVAC technologies company.
The third print ad is for “The Ridge Pro”, a very clever roofing safety product designed to prevent falls off of home roof tops. This product designed and patented by Strawder Family Innovations is a well built, giant steal clamp that was designed to roll up a roof slope and hook on to any ridge of the house roof. The ad includes a crystal-clear product shot, roofer use demonstration photo and close up demo photo on how to secure the safety clamp to a roof. The colorful gradient back ground used on the package adds a nice consistency to the product promotional materials.
The 4th magazine ad for Leighton umbrellas. The product called SunSafe umbrellas was a good challenge for Ted. He was given the task of designing an ad for the Australian market and other warm weather areas. In these warm weather countries, the sun is so powerful it causes tremendous skin cancer issues. So, the challenge was to demonstrate that the umbrella is perfect for heavy rain and blazing hot sun since the major product benefit is that this unique umbrella contains a 50 plus UV coating so it’s perfect for heavy rain and ideal for scorching hot sunny days. Ted solution was to use an intense close up stock photo of pounding rain and a second stock photo of a blazing hot sun to dramatize that this umbrella is perfect for both needs.
